Getu is the Senior Partner of HST and leader of the firm’s tax advisory and business support services functions.

Getu joined HST in late 2004 in Accounting Practices and Consultancies serving different roles as an accountant, external auditor, financial and tax consultant and trainer. He became partner of HST in July 2008. In July 2012, he became partner of Deloitte and was the Tax and Business Support Services leader for Deloitte Ethiopia until 2017. His noteworthy proficiency highly revolves around tax compliance and tax planning for financial institutions, commercial enterprises, manufacturing and energy sector, and non-governmental and trading companies in various industries. His experience also includes advising clients on Compliance Reviews, Corporate Tax Return Review, Due Diligence, Tax Investigation Assistance and Tax Refund Management.

Outside the office, Getu serves on the government’s National Steering Committee (2008 - 2010) involved in drafting the Ethiopian Financial Reporting Law and Accounting and Auditing Board of Ethiopia. He also served as Vice President (2014 - 2016) and President (2017-2021) of the Accounting Society of Ethiopia. Additionally, he was a Panel Member of ACCA Ethiopia Office; Member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) (2018-2021) and Ethiopian Professional Accountants and Auditors Associations.

Prior to joining the practice, Getu lectured for thirteen years at Addis Ababa University’s Faculty of Business and Economics Department of Accounting of which he headed the Department of Accounting and Finance for two years (2001 – 2003). Getu is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant and a graduate in Accounting from Addis Ababa University with a specialist diploma in International Financial Reporting from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK).
